Drawing is the most valuable skill in all the visual arts and is core to many artistic disciplines. Think of drawing as the scaffolding that all art is built upon. On top of this scaffolding we will introduce the concept of using color to further add to our drawing skill set.
While reviewing basics like composition, line, and value, as well as explore color theory and how color is affected by value. Instruction will include step-by-step demonstrations and individualized guidance.
This course is perfect for adult beginner students looking to develop their drawing skills.
We will go over:
Week 1: Drawing a still-life with a monochromatic palette.
Week 2: Experimenting with different color studies that effect the mood of a drawing.
Week 3: Composition and creating a final still-life of the students choosing using color.
Note: If you have any objects that you’d like to bring in for your final still-life, feel free to either bring them in or run them by us.
Ideas: shoes, mugs, flowers, etc. Items that are visually interesting!
