Pastels are an often overlooked and under appreciated medium. They were originally used to create smaller studies for larger works, but their portability, minimal setup and lack of need for solvents or brushes make them a great choice for artists to experiment with drawing with color.

During this 3-week program, learn about navigating through this medium and add pastels to your arsenal of art tools. We’ll learn about the the various types of pastel materials, compare/contrast pastels, and learn when best to utilize one vs the other.

Week 1: Chalk pastels exploration.

Week 2: Oil pastels exploration.

Week 3: Artists choice for final still-life drawing.
