In this 3-week watercolor class, students will learn the basic rules, techniques and principles of watercolor. These techniques include painting from light to dark, preserving the white of the paper, and using glazing and washes to convey 3D objects. Students will create a series of still-life watercolor paintings and apply these learnings to their work.

Week 1: Overview of watercolor, color wheel basics and water control.

Week 2: Overview of glazing and washes, and understanding what purpose they serve in portraying 3D objects in watercolor painting.

Week 3: Build still-life of choice and apply learnings in class to paint a final watercolor work of art.
