Ever take a walk and felt inspired by your surroundings? Ever want to try watercolors, but don’t know where to start? Start here!
Each week we will go over a specific technique and apply them to a mini project. The last week of class we will use these techniques to work on a landscape of choice. All materials are included! Walk away with an understanding of the materials, application, and the ability to paint watercolor at home!
Week 1: Intro - Color wheel, brush control and monochromatic paint practice will be discussed and students will paint a monochromatic landscape.
Week 2: Clouds - Building on the previous week, we will be practicing wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry and glazing technique to paint the sky and clouds at different times of day.
Week 3: Trees - We will use our skills from painting skies and see how they apply to painting different types of trees. We will go over basic rules of depth in preparation for our final class.
Week 4: Putting It All Together: Landscape - Students will bring in a landscape reference or choose one from our image library. Students will use that reference as inspiration for their own watercolor landscape, putting together the skills and techniques learned during the first three sessions.
