Class Description:
Students will explore the art of comic creation by developing original superhero characters and stories, drawing inspiration from the visual styles of classic American comic artists such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. Students will learn character design, story development, storyboarding, sketching, and inking while exploring what makes a compelling hero, from unique powers and personalities to original worlds and challenges.
Each student will walk away with a collection of comic book panels that tell a story with striking visuals and have the opportunity to share their story with the group.
Each new comics series offers a fresh creative challenge or new theme, with returning students exploring new techniques, developing new characters, and pushing their storytelling skills further.
This program is designed for students ages 9-12. For students ages 13-16 who are interested in comics, please contact us so we can help find the best fit.
